The beach
- Ground A mix of sand and stone. A long, bright beach with plenty of room to lay out.
- Character The island's very northeastern tip — off the beaten track as a result, and in our view absolutely worth the somewhat longer drive.

Wind
Wind rule: still open
Cavo sits right on the island's outermost northeast tip — geometrically a case similar to the convoluted Gulf of Portoferraio. Our calculation returns very different values depending on the search radius (roughly between 40° and 75°) instead of a stable figure — exactly the sign that the method gives no reliable answer at a headland like this.

So far we only know the switching principle to the second beach, see below — which direction belongs to which side, we don't know yet. A visible gap beats a guessed figure.
The Cavo trick: two beaches against the wind
Walk on from the main beach and you reach Cala delle Alghe, a hidden, very beautiful cove. Keep going past the clifftop bar and you reach Spiaggia di Frugoso on the north coast — with its own small extra cove where you can sometimes lie completely alone.
The special part: Cavo and Frugoso face the wind differently. When one beach is choppy and windy, a roughly 5-minute walk gets you to the other, which is usually calm. Which wind direction belongs to which beach, we haven't logged yet — more on that above.
Food and drink
Clifftop bar
A distinctive bar between the two main beaches, up on the rocky shore, with a very good view — the bar you can reach from your towel.

Beyond that, in the village itself: plenty more bars and restaurants plus a Carrefour Express (Via Alcide De Gasperi, 57038 Cavo LI), all within walking distance — without an index value of their own, since they're not reachable from your towel. We haven't logged the supermarket's hours or price level yet. Self-catering is easy as a result.
