What we know so far

Istia is the destination of the Friday beach ride from the Costa dei Gabbiani stable: three hours, into the water with the horses and back, riding experience required. On foot the beach lies about 30 minutes from Remaiolo (3.0 km as the crow flies).

Claims circulate about reaching it by car that don't match the picture of a remote beach reached on horseback. We haven't checked them and we're not repeating them — we'll go and look ourselves.

Wind

Wind rose for Istia: not yet logged. No wind direction has been assessed so far. NNE ESE SSW WNW

Wind rule: still open

On paper the bay opens towards 23–27°, i.e. northeast — suggesting exposure in north, northeast and east winds. That's geometry, not observation: the wind rose stays empty until we've seen it.

  • All directions: not yet assessed

Remaiolo, 30 minutes away on foot, opens on paper in exactly the opposite direction, towards the southwest. If both hold up, the two would be an escape pair — when one is on the windward side, the other lies in the lee. Unverified so far.

Parking, ground, water, shade, supplies, prices — none of it logged yet. A visible gap beats a guessed figure. This page grows once we've been there.
